All,
The Human Research Protection Program is receiving questions about the appropriate process for making changes to research studies in response to the current COVID-19 epidemic. As of today, UT campuses remain open with faculty and staff reporting to work as normal. However, it is appropriate to reevaluate the risk of study participation to patients deemed at risk of COVID-19 by the CDC.

Changes to an IRB approved study cannot be initiated without IRB review and approval, except where necessary to eliminate immediate hazards to human subjects. If a change is made to eliminate immediate hazards to participants, please notify the IRB following the procedures in the Deviation Procedure: https://www.utoledo.edu/research/rsp/irb/guidance.html. At this time, all requests to modify a study protocol should be done via the regular amendment process.

If you have any questions, please contact your HRPP Compliance Analyst: https://www.utoledo.edu/research/rsp/irb/StaffIRB.html.

Sincerely,
Hillary
