[Irb] Further easing of pause on face-to-face interactions with human subjects

As you may remember, a pause on face-to-face interactions with human subjects on studies determined to be non-essential taking place in non-medical settings was implemented.  Researchers were able to request an exception to the pause via the FYI xform.  Please see the updated information in the attached letter from Dr. Calzonetti.

In short, as of June 8, 2021, face-to-face interactions on non-essential research with human subject studies taking place in non-medical UToledo settings may occur with the following precautions in place:

  *   You must use the COVID pre-screening questionnaire or you must have a similar conversation with participants before they arrive on campus. Researchers also complete the pre-screening questionnaire.
  *   If someone voluntarily discloses that they are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19, masks and distancing requirements are required for participants and researchers.
  *   If more than one participant is present at the same time (e.g., focus group), the informed consent form must contain a statement in the risk section to indicate that researchers cannot guarantee other participants do not have COVID-19.

As a reminder, there is no pause on face-to-face interactions for research taking place in a medical setting.  It is required that the safety protocols established by the healthcare setting are followed.
